Horological Restoration Centre Pte Ltd (HRC) was founded by Mr. Kasey Poh way back in 1998 with the aim of providing higher standard in the field of watch repair and servicing. Prior to the birth of HRC, in 1993, Kasey was an apprentice with Bharath & Watch Co. where his teacher Mr. Bhagavan (having a Master Watchmaker title) was a highly respected and well known figure in WOSTEP.
Having spent about 5 years with Bharath & Watch Co., and having acquired the necessary skills needed, Kasey knew that it was time he had to upgrade his watchmaking skills and knowledge to the ultimate level. After much hesitation about leaving his family and friends behind to pursue his passion in learning watchmaking, he flew off to Watchmaker of Switzerland Training & Educational Program (WOSTEP), Neuchatel Switzerland.
In the course, students went through both practical and theory lessons about watchmaking. Hand skills were the most challenging and demanding portion of the course as students were made to manufacture their own parts using the manual lathe machine to restore old watches.Nothing will complete the course if students did not understand well enough on the theory portion about watchmaking.
Here, students were made to present themselves to the crowd like seminar style on the reasoning and history on certain key topics about watchmaking. Completing the course is already tough enough, let alone doing pretty well in class. Which he did!
